Many women—even in the most medically advanced countries—endure pregnancies and births that push them to their physical and emotional limits. These experiences can be traumatic, complicated, and deeply transformative. But most of us, when the moment comes, are surrounded by a network of medical professionals and caregivers who ensure that we and our babies survive.
At top: Milou with her daughter Miranda.
Now imagine giving birth in Haiti. Imagine no hospital. No monitor. No pain medication. No doctor. Childbirth is dangerous. Complications are frequent, recognition too late, and far too often the resources just aren’t there.
Milou faced all of these challenges. She gave birth at home, in a slum in Cap-Haitien. But thanks to Konbit Sante, a trained Traditional Birth Attendant was there with a clean birth kit. Community health workers followed up postpartum to check on Milou and her baby girl, Miranda.

That care—compassionate, competent, accessible—made the difference.
This is what your donation makes possible—even as resources shrink and the health system strains under the pressure of rising insecurity and the collapse of foreign aid.
If you’ve already donated to the STAND WITH HAITI. MOVE WITH KONBIT. campaign—thank you. If you haven’t yet, or you can share this with someone who might, please do.
The campaign ends this Thursday, July 31st, and we’re making one final push to reach our goal of $60,000 so that women and children in Haiti get the care they deserve.
We all deserve compassionate care. You can help make it possible.
