Dear Friend of Konbit Sante,
The recent U.S. election has ushered in a significant shift in the landscape of international support. With the incoming administration’s stance on foreign aid—especially its antagonism toward nations like Haiti—there’s a very real threat that critical funding for health initiatives may be drastically reduced or even cut entirely. For Haiti, this could put life-saving programs for mothers and children at risk.
The Risk to Haiti’s Families
At Konbit Sante, we’ve seen firsthand what a difference consistent, reliable support makes for families in the north of Haiti. USAID was instrumental in our ability to build the pediatric wing at Justinien University Hospital. And for nearly two decades, USAID has helped fund our maternal and child health programs at Fort Saint-Michel—a lifeline for vulnerable mothers and babies who depend on these services every day.
However, Project 2025 targets drastic cuts for foreign aid, particularly affecting maternal and reproductive health initiatives. Without this support, the lives of countless mothers and children in northern Haiti hang in the balance. And while we do not depend on USAID to keep Konbit Sante running, the loss of funding for maternal and child health would be a heavy blow—one that could have catastrophic consequences for the people who need it most.
Time to Take Action
Next week marks the start of Konbit Sante’s annual campaign—a chance for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to a healthier, stronger Haiti. Over the past year, your generosity has made a profound impact, ensuring that families in northern Haiti have access to quality healthcare and the support they deserve. In a moment like this, when the future of essential aid is uncertain, we’re reminded that it’s the strength of our community that keeps hope alive.
As you consider your support this year, please know how much is at stake. Your gift is more than a donation; it’s a promise to mothers fighting for the lives of their children, to doctors and nurses working tirelessly with limited resources, and to communities that believe in a healthier future.
Together, we’ve achieved so much—and together, we can continue to be there for the families who need us most, no matter what challenges lie ahead.
Thank you for your unwavering support and for standing with us at this crucial moment.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Perry Newman
