Dear Friends,
In these challenging times, I am happy to share a story of generosity and resilience. Women’s and children’s health services are returning to Fort Saint-Michel…at least for now.
As you’ll recall, the U.S. government’s recent decision to terminate many USAID contracts and grants resulted in our having to cease operations at Hôpital Fort Saint-Michel, a public hospital in the Petit-Anse area of Cap-Haitien where we’ve supported maternal and child health services for 20 years.
This devastating blow promised to impact thousands of families, and especially infants.
So we are particularly pleased to report now that, thanks to your support along with participation of our longtime and trusted partners at Hope Health Action, we have been able to restart and fund maternal, prenatal, and pediatric care at Fort Saint-Michel at roughly 40% of its prior levels, but only through the end of 2025.
While we once had thirty nurses, community health workers, lab techs, and others on staff, there are now eleven serving the community. We hope to be able to raise the funds to restore services to their previous level, but in the meantime, these eleven are making a tremendous difference.

In the weeks to come, we’ll share photos of the care once again being provided at Fort Saint-Michel. Thank you to Hope Health Action and to the many friends and supporters who have made this possible. This isn’t over yet, but with your help we will move closer to our goal of restoring full service at Fort Saint-Michel.
We literally can’t do it without you!
