As Konbit Sante’s financial manager in our Cap-Haitien office, Ruddy Adeca plays a key role in our organization. Working closely alongside our U.S.-based finance manager, he is responsible for making sure that the business aspects of our work remain on an even keel.
A native of Cap-Haitien, Ruddy has a degree in business administration from the Université Notre Dame d’Haïti in Cap-Haitien. He began his career as an accountant for the Haiti Project, a partnership between the Haiti Ministry of Health and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to train Haitian family physicians, before joining Konbit Sante in June 2006.
“I was attracted to this position because it fits my background and it was a great opportunity for me to develop my interpersonal skills. Additionally, I am working to improve and strengthen the management of Konbit Sante’s financial system,” he said.
Ruddy’s many job duties including working with the Cap-Haitien office administrator on finance management, tax preparation and filing, and insurance oversight; preparing payroll; developing accounting management procedures; recording financial and accounting transactions in QuickBooks; supervising petty cash; keeping financial records up to date; supporting supply chain coordination; verifying receipt of services and materials; helping with new staff onboarding; and more.
“Adeca performs with a great sense of responsibility,” said Dominique Joseph, Konbit Sante’s administrator in Cap-Haitien. “He is willing to learn and share his knowledge with others. He is a great asset for Konbit Sante.”
In his spare time, Ruddy enjoys listening to music, exercising, reading, and watching basketball games and movies. He also teaches math at Universite d’Etat d’Haiti.
Understanding the many nuances of Haiti’s financial system and practices is no easy task, but Ruddy says he enjoys the challenge.
“The most rewarding part of my job is doing what I have to do to reach a collective goal,” he said.
