Since 2010, Konbit Sante has hosted a June fundraiser to support our healthcare partners in Haiti. Maine Walks with Haiti combines music, refreshments, and Haitian art with a walk around Portland’s beautiful Back Cove during the famous Maine summer. Supporters are invited to run in a 5K race timed by a professional, take a leisurely walk around the race path, or simply raise funds by donating, becoming a sponsor, or participating in peer-to-peer fundraising.
Maine Walks with Haiti is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we depend on its success to fund a large portion of our annual budget. The money raised from this event goes directly to supporting our mission of helping our healthcare partners in Haiti provide quality care to their communities without interruptions in supplies or services.
In 2020, we transformed Maine Walks with Haiti into a virtual fundraiser to enable our staff, volunteers, and participants to practice preventive measures during the COVD-19 pandemic. This event, renamed We Walk with Haiti, ran June 1-30, 2020, and encouraged supporters to raise money virtually by doing something they enjoy, be it running, walking, canoeing, biking, or other activity.
