Executive Committee: This committee, which consists of Board Officers and others as are asked or appointed by the Board President, is responsible for discussing certain confidential matters, serving as a sounding board for the Executive Director and President, and reaching decisions that need to be made outside of regular board meetings due to time constraints.

Communications Committee: This is a staff-led committee responsible for advising staff in the planning and execution of a multi-faceted communications plan that supports development and other goals; they assist with the production of the organization’s print, email, video,  and online materials.  

Development Committee: This is a board committee with both staff and board participation and leadership, and is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating an annual strategy to raise money through individual and corporate donations.  It works in close collaboration with staff.

Finance Committee: This is a board committee, that includes some non-board advisors and staff, that is chaired by the board treasurer and is responsible to monitor finances, develop financial management policy, and provide financial strategic advice and guidance for management and/or board consideration for adoption.

Governance Committee: This is a board committee whose responsibilities include recommending new board members and a slate of officers, and ensuring that new board members are properly oriented; annually reviewing ED performance; reviewing bylaws; and leading the board in its self-assessment.  

Program Advisory Committee: This is a group of individuals that are invited by the ED because of their breadth of experience and knowledge related to global health and development issues. They are responsible for advising and assisting the ED and program staff on program strategy, planning, and execution; grant process; and policy issues related to programming as requested by the ED. The core group is sometimes joined by other advisors with relevant expertise as needed depending on the issue at hand.

Maine Walks with Haiti Planning Committee: This is a sub committee of the Development Committee, and consists of volunteers who help ensure the success of Konbit Sante’s annual 5k walk/run & festival that takes place in May in Portland, Maine

Ad Hoc Committees: These committees are formed on occasion at the discretion of the Board President and/or ED to advise or develop recommendations regarding specific identified issues.
