
Join Konbit Sante in the 4th Annual Maine Walks with Haiti and 4 Mile Run on May 11. Run or walk – you can make a difference! Proceeds from the event go to support our programs in Cap-Haitien, Portland’s Sister City in Haiti. Gather at Back Cove Park on Preble St. across from Hannaford and enjoy the entertainment before and after running or walking around scenic Back Cove. Experience a Haitian RaRa parade, and listen to Haitian DJ Harold Similien, singer/songwriter Gifranz and storyteller Charlot Lucien. Handcrafted Haitian metal art and other crafts available for sale.
Online registration for walkers and runner is $10 for youths (13-21 yrs) and $15 for adults (21+). Runners who register on the day of the event will be charged $20. Children 12 and under are free. Prizes for top runners and T-shirts for the first 250 registrants.
On site registration begins at 8:30 am on May 11. The runner’s gun will be at 9:30 am and the walkers will follow. Entertainment will continue until noon.

To encourage walkers and runners to raise money for the cause, prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams that raise the most money through donations. You can make an online personal campaign page and/or download a form to collect donations when you register. In addition, any child 12 and under who raises $100 or more is eligible for a T-shirt as well as prizes.

Directions and Route
The walk and run will take place at Back Cove Park on Preble St across from Hanafords. If you are driving, you can exit 295 at Forest Ave headed east. Go one block and make a left on Marginal Way. Drive another block and make a left on Preble Street. Drive under the 295 underpass and you will see Back Cove Park on your right.
