Maine Volunteers

Helping Out Locally
Since our “organizational engine” is in Portland, Maine, we have a need for volunteers to get involved locally to help with a variety of operational activities. For examples, we utilize volunteers to do the following:
Warehouse Work
- Sort and inventory supplies in our warehouse.
- Assist with packing shipping containers once or twice a year. Containers are packed at our warehouse and sent directly to Haiti.
- Help pick up donations of equipment and supplies, on occasion, and deliver them to our warehouse.
Office Work
- Assist with preparing our major mail campaign in mid-November.
- Help with donation data entry (ongoing but more demanding in December & January).
- Enter and analyze programmatic data (as needed).
Committee Work
- Help with fundraising activities by getting involved with an activity group such as metal art sales, Compete for Konbit, or Maine Walks for Haiti.
- Consult with the communications committee to give input on website and publication design and content.
- Provide professional services - such as graphic design, legal advice, computer tech support, organizational/board development consulting, etc.
Many of these volunteer tasks require being available during weekday business hours. If you feel this time-frame and one or more the activities above sound like a match for you, write to us at
