Konbit Sante Receives Hanley Center Honor for Leadership in Medical & Humanitarian Relief

hanleyaward2 0Dr. Ann Lemire accepted the award on behalf of Konbit Sante.The Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership presents awards each year to individuals and organizations who have provided outstanding voluntary medical and humanitarian relief. At a special statewide dinner in Portland, Tuesday, November 30, Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership was honored with this award, along with eight others.

The recipients of the Hanley Center's 2010 Honors For Medical and Humanitarian Service were selected no only for extraordinary service, but also exceptional leadership, collaboration & impact.

In addition to Konbit Sante, several other honorees devoted enormous time & resources to assist in Haiti following the devastating earthquake that occurred in January as well as during the current cholera outbreak.

The other honorees included:

  • Constance Adler, MD from Farmington for her work in Nicaragua
  • Chiedza Jokonya, MD from Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency for her work in Haiti
  • Elizabeth McLellan, MSN, MPH for her work through Partners for World Health
  • Jennifer Morton, DNP, MPH from University of new England for her work in the Ghana Health Partnership
  • Hector Tarraza, MD from Maine Medical Center for his work through Global Health Ministry, Hands Across the Americas, and other organizations
  • Project Guatemala, the cooperative effort of Maine Eye Center and Eyecare Medical Group
  • Safe Passage of Falmouth for their work in Guatemala
  • St. Mary's Regional medical Center in Lewiston for their work in Haiti.
