In Haiti, community health workers are called agents de sante. They are responsible for going out into the community to teach and administer disease prevention techniques. All of health workers are all connected to one of our partner institutions and play an invaluable role in referring patients in need of care and following up on patients who have received care.

He works long days doing one home visit after another. The most satisfying part of his job is seeing children's health improving. |

Prior to his work with Konbit Sante where his primary responsibility is to follow up on malnourished patients seen at Justinian, he worked for the Ministry of Health doing vaccination campaigns. |

Bette Blanc, FSM Agent de Sante In late 2004, Bette completed the Ministry of Health's training program to become an agent de sante. Peer selected as one of the brightest and most competent of the program, Bette was one of the first agent de sante hired by Konbit Sante. Since that time she has worked tirelessly to educate and provide referrals for her neighbors in the Fort St. Michel community. |

Jean-Claude Obas, FSM Agent de Sante Jean-Claude is a patient and conscientious man who has a positive rapport with the members of his community. His neighborhood of responsibility is Bas Aviation. He too was one of the first agent de sante hired by Konbit Sante, after completing the Ministry of Health's training program. What he enjoys most about his work is connecting with people and helping them as best he can. |

Odile César, FSM Agent de Sante Trained as an auxiliary nurse at a private school in Cap-Haitien, Odile brings advanced skills to her role as an agent de sante. She is an energetic and passionate who takes great pride in her work. As of fall 2009 she has been assigned to focus specifically on identifying and following the treatment of tuberculosis patients. |

Wiguenson Joseph, FSM Agent de Sante Wiguenson joined the community health outreach program in March 2008. He particularly enjoys learning new things and is proud of all the competencies he has gained since joining Konbit Sante. Since the fall of 2009 he has focused his outreach to tuberculosis patients. He covers Blue Hill, Bas Aviation and Petite Anse. |

Nesly Saint-Preux, FSM Agent de Sante Nesly lives and works in Petite Anse neighborhood. The aspect of his work that he enjoys the most is giving vaccines and counseling new mothers. He joined Konbit Sante as an agent de sante in the summer of 2007, and has since earned great respect from the members of his community. An issue he cares greatly about is the sanitation problem in this neighborhood. |

Gracilia Mondestin Senat, FSM Agent de Sante After completing the Ministry of Health's training program in 2004, Gracilia was so inspired and eager to work that she began doing the job months before Konbit Sante was able to pay her. The deep commitment she has to her work and the extraordinary care she shows to her neighbors in Petite Anse contribute to her success as an incredibly productive agent sante. Her strong connections to people in her neighborhood help her do her job so well. |

Flore Dorelus, FSM Agent de Sante Flore came to Konbit Sante with extensive experience as an agent de sante, having worked with another local NGO doing the same job for sixteen years. She appreciates the structure of the team she is working with now and the leadership their supervisor provides. The trust the community puts in her is what encourages and inspires her in her work. |

He has greatly enjoyed learning new skills and putting them to use, serving the people in his community. Prior to doing this work she studied management for several years. She joined Konbit Sante in the summer of 2010 as part of our efforts to increase community outreach following the earthquake. |

Merline Joseph, FSM Agent de Sante Merline trained as an auxiliary nurse at a private school in Cap-Haitien. She was recently hired as an agent de sante as part of Konbit Sante's efforts to respond to the effects of the earthquake. Particularly drawn to helping malnourished children, Merline pays close attention to women and children in her community and looks for signs that they need to be referred for additional services. |
